rejecting assumptions
Having tried to be an understanding person, (for the most part) I've created a problem:
People assume that the second you criticise a behaviour that causes them to feel shame, it is because you didn't think hard enough about your criticism.
It got to the point where even the people who claim(ed) to be the closest to me assume that I do not think nor internalise the things I say, let alone the ones posted on the internet.
It started because I chose to be understanding and I chose to be accepting of multiple perspectives, and acknowledge all if not most of them. So the second that I do disagree, the reason has to be because I choose to not make sense and because I refuse to think enough.
And it didn't matter if I was open-minded before that. All it mattered was that I agreed, and I was complacent and I was falling in line.
At least, falling in line was an assumption, simply because I chose to play the understanding role.
Which is what makes it all so exhausting.
